Anyone have tips on college essay topics???? Besides just GPA and extracurriculars??? I know early admissions people have already sent their apps in, but I am crunching to get mine done by the end of November. I read on the howtogetin.com's blog page about essay writing tips... Good comments. One says:

I wrote about my sister. I didn't feel particularly clear about what would make me the best candidate for college, but she was always so supportive of my passions. I knew that I wanted to be as successful as her, and that I would not be applying to college if I didn't have this support. I found that I could express vivid experiences on this topic, because I was passionate about it. My counselor warned me along the way to focus the essay on myself, how it affected me, to stay away from a biography on my older sister& the colleges did not want to know about my sister, they want to know about me!
